JMG Testing Encampment

In its nearly 80-year history, JMG test encampment has been held at a variety of locations throughout the state of Maine, beginning at Moose Pond in Bridgton, ME and in most recent years, at the Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve in Oquossoc (Rangeley), ME. Test camp has also been held on Mooselookmeguntic Lake in Bemis, ME and on Swan Island in the Kennebec River.

Stephen Philips Preserve

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Preserve has been home to the five-day test camp for the past six years. A dedicated wilderness camping preserve, it has been a perfect match for the program’s needs. It offers ample space to set up group encampments and candidates appreciate the isolation of the location. Since establishing the test encampment at the Preserve, JMG staff and Preserve personnel have continued to work together to maximize the location’s potential for carrying out the JMG program mission. We are extremely grateful to the Preserve and its caretaker, Bill Roy.
