Ginny Geyer

Ginny became a JMG while at Wyonegonic Camps in the late 1960s and has pursued her love of the outdoors ever since.

As a Wyonegonic counselor she led trips and was a JMG instructor.
After a summer of camping across the U.S. and Canada she returned to Maine and started Camp Runoia’s JMG program, at which time she also became a JMG tester.

Ginny recently returned to test camp after a long hiatus. While she was away, Ginny continued her adventurous lifestyle, camping and hiking with friends around New England and Canada.

Ginny has long sought to promote opportunities for youngsters to experience the self-reliance and self-confidence that comes from being a JMG candidate. She also takes great pleasure in working with like-minded testers at test camp each summer.

Ginny’s spirit of adventure has also taken her into the air. She learned to fly in the mid-1970s and became a flight instructor for single and multi-engine land and sea aircraft. She also became certified to commercially fly hot air balloons and with a partner ran a hot air balloon company from her local airport.

Ginny recently retired after nearly four decades of teaching and coaching in Maine and today chairs her local school board.
